A person who contaminated treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was against a young boy.
The accused was remanded in custody before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative continued: "This year his family member had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated materials including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his family member notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the man went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The prosecutor said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member notified the law enforcement again.
She stated the defendant then played the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
