19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
